Best Things to Do in Raleigh this Weekend (Aug 3 – Aug 9, 2026)

What a quiet week ahead in Raleigh. I had to dig deep to find you some events and happenings this week. Monday & Tuesday are having their annual nap days! Weds & Thurs are just waking up and Friday to Sunday are raring to go! I have difficult choices on Friday night with several live music events I want to see – can’t they spread them out??

We update this post every Monday to share the weekly events in Raleigh this weekend. We try to cover a wide range of interests and will include suggestions on things to do that aren’t event based, like visiting a museum, or taking a hike!

• First Friday is on in Downtown Raleigh Art galleries and studios are open late with rotating exhibits and artist talks, plus events happen across the city. • Bands, Bites, & Boats, at Bond Lake with local artist Adam Pitts who we love, Not Just a Fry Guy for yummy, loaded fries and Fortnight Brewery – the last two who have gluten free options for me! 6-8pm free
• Tim McGraw: Pawn Shop Guitar Tour 2026
• Dogstar: ALL IN NOW TOUR

• LGBT Center of Raleigh is having a First Friday Housewarming to celebrate their new downtown space. Enjoy arts and crafts, libations and free birthday cake! 5:30pm – 8pm
• Clue is a fast-paced, madcap comedy that brings the classic board game and cult-favorite film to life on stage. Set during a mysterious dinner party at Boddy Manor, a group of eccentric guests must work together to solve a murder—before the body count rises. Raleigh Little Theater. 7:30pm. $9 – $19.
• First Fridays in Fuquay-Varina 2026: Enjoy live music, local shopping, and vibrant community activities 5pm – 9pm Free
• SAFE Haven for Cats $10 Adoption Event: Meet dozens of playful kittens, curious teenagers and affectionate adults ready for loving homes. 9am – 6pm
• Sir Walter Miler: free-admission event featuring an elite field of men and women runners and allows fans onto the track at Meredith College to scream and cheer as athletes look to set some of the fastest mile times of the year in the U.S. 6pm – 11pm
• Artist Notes featuring Joseph Terrell at The Corner at Centennial Campu. Joseph will explore the stories behind the lyrics and the pivotal moments of their careers. FREE 7pm – 9:30pm
• An Evening with Mason Via at The Wake Forest Listening Room $16.95. I heard him at Raleigh Wide Open last year and loved him, especially his National Park song 6:45pm

Saturday, Aug 8

• Native American Film Festival at the Rialto: witness Native stories told by Native actors and directors. You can see fun animated shorts, documentaries presented by PBS, and full feature length films that range from romantic to thrilling. 11am $18.50 – $53.50 0. VIP tickets include heavy hors d’oeuvres of indigenous food by Atkowa Catering.
• Repticon at the State Fairgrounds. Learn about animals you typically can’t find in a pet store and possibly adopt one – spider anyone? $10 – $20 9am – 4pm
• Downtown Raleigh Black History Tour at Pope Museum The tour will explore parts of the Third Ward neighborhood, Black Wall Street, historic churches, and more. Registration is required, and tours will meet at the Dr. M.T. Pope House Museum. 10am – $6 – $10

Don’t despair, if there is rain in the air, there’s plenty of activities in Raleigh this weekend you can do indoors:

• RALEIGH’S BEST ATTRACTION: We think the free NC Museum of Art is Raleigh’s best foot forward. If the sun peaks out head to their fantastic sculpture park for some outdoor fun!
