Caught Offside’s reports indicate Newcastle United has shown interest in signing Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior, who is available for a fee in the £12-to-13 million range, according to Tutto Juve. Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race for the 20-year-old England U21 international, who started at the Chelsea academy before moving to Italy. The potential signing of Iling-Junior aligns with the transfer policy used by Newcastle since the PIF takeover in October 2021, prioritizing the acquisition of young talents instead of established players. The 20-year-old, who emerged from Chelsea’s academy, has made an impact at Juventus, playing both in midfield and on the wing. With Miguel Almiron potentially leaving Newcastle this summer, some reinforcements will be needed on the Magpies wings. Last season, Iling-Junior scored one goal and provided two assists in 27 appearances at Juventus. Former Chelsea and Tottenham academy coach Saul Isaksson-Hurst praised Iling-Junior of late, stating, “I don’t think there is a ceiling to his potential.” Juventus are reportedly looking to sell Iling-Junior, with a transfer fee set at 15 million euros (approximately £12.7 million). The Serie A club is actively seeking buyers with both Premier League sides Newcastle and Tottenham showing serious interest in the young and versatile winger. Despite initial expectations that the Saudi Arabian-backed takeover would bring a wave of established superstars to Newcastle—your Neymars and Mbappes—the club has primarily focused on signing younger, promising players. After Kieran Trippier became the exception that confirmed the rule, the Magpies snatched a fairly unknown Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon, signed Sven Botman, paid a hefty sum for Alexander Isak, and then kept adding promising talents in Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall, and Tino Livramento to bolster a squad with tremendous upside. Last summer saw the arrival of Italy international Sandro Tonali, perhaps the highest-profile signing completed by Newcastle since the takeover, albeit one still to explode following his (near) season-long suspension for gambling issues. Iling-Junior could become the next piece of a great puzzle being put together by Newcastle that so far has yielded impressive results.
