Cambridge Mill Wedding in Ontario

If you love old-world texture with river light, Cambridge Mill hits differently. The glass Pavilion gives you the feel of being outdoors without the weather gamble, and the Grand River throws gentle reflections behind the vows that are genuinely hard to replicate anywhere else. The stone walls and dark beams in the reception rooms give portraits a timeless edge, and the balcony overlooking the water is one of my favourite spots on the entire property, soft, open, and endlessly photogenic no matter what time of day you're shooting. Late afternoon light moves through the glass in a way that can be a genuine challenge to work with, but when it comes together it's some of the most beautiful, cinematic light I get to shoot in all year. For couples who want heritage character and that romantic riverside atmosphere with a city backdrop, this venue is unmatched.

Jessica and Tyler chose their wedding date on purpose, September 29th, the same day they got together eight years earlier. That's the kind of detail that tells you everything about who they are as a couple, laidback, loving, and completely unbothered by anything that isn't genuinely important to them. They kept their wedding tight-knit and intentional, 70 guests, every plus-one accounted for ahead of time, no loose ends. Jessica actually found me organically on Instagram, and it turned out one of her closest friends and potential maids of honour had already worked with me doing wedding makeup for another couple, which felt like exactly the kind of full-circle moment their whole day carried.

The morning started at their Airbnb, where the entire wedding party got ready together, and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful getting-ready spaces I've shot in, soft light, real ease, everyone in one place. Their ceremony took place indoors in the Pavilion, and the afternoon light coming through that glass was genuinely tricky to work with, tricky enough that their florist tagged me in a post wishing me luck. But that hard light turned into some of my favourite frames of the day once we found the right angle, warm and glowing in a way flat light never could have given us. Afterward we headed to the balcony overlooking the river for portraits, and that's where Jessica and Tyler were most themselves, unreal light, the water moving below them, completely at ease with each other. Their reception in the Waterfront Room felt exactly like they'd described wanting, cozy, intimate, and full of the specific handful of people who mattered most to them.
