Nicole Briscoe Headshots

As a photographer, you quickly learn to adapt to the moment, the light, and, most importantly, the person in front of your lens. Recently, I had the honor of photographing Nicole Briscoe, the dynamic SportsCenter anchor, Baseball Tonight host, and Formula 1 reporter. The setting? Backstage, just moments before she stepped on stage to present for ESPN. Capturing Nicole Briscoe for ESPN: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

The situation was high-energy and fast-paced, with very little time to spare. Nicole had a packed schedule, and we had only a brief window to capture a portrait that encapsulated her personality and poise. There was no time for elaborate lighting setups or scouting the perfect spot. It was all about working with what we had: natural light and a makeshift backstage environment.

Making the Connection

With only a few minutes to work, my first priority was making Nicole feel at ease. She’s no stranger to cameras, but the setting was hurried, and I needed her to forget about the time crunch and focus on the moment.

“Let’s make this quick and fun,” I said with a smile. She laughed, and we immediately found a rhythm. Nicole’s warmth and professionalism shone through, making it easy to connect and capture her genuine expressions.

The Shot

I positioned her in an open area where the natural light illuminated her face beautifully. The backdrop was a cluster of blurred-out trees, adding a touch of softness and warmth without drawing focus away from her.

In just a few clicks, we had what we needed. The result? A portrait that felt authentic, capturing her elegance, focus, and charisma in a single frame.

The Takeaway

This shoot was a reminder that sometimes, simplicity and spontaneity can lead to the most striking results. Natural light, a quick connection, and trusting your instincts as a photographer can turn a fleeting moment into something memorable.

Working with Nicole Briscoe was an absolute pleasure, and the experience reinforced why I love what I do: the opportunity to tell stories, even in the most unexpected circumstances.
