Tuco and Maisel may share a home, but they move through the world on their own terms. Tuco, a 12-year-old English Bulldog, carries himself with quiet confidence. He’s seen enough of life to know what’s worth his time. Maisel, his Basset Hound sister, is more reserved, taking everything in with a calm, steady gaze. We spent the morning at their Chelsea apartment, starting in the garden before heading out to the stoop. It was a slow, easy session, the kind that unfolds naturally without much direction. Tuco alternated between short bursts of curiosity and long stretches of rest, always making sure he was in a comfortable spot. He has that unhurried way about him, moving when he feels like it and settling when he doesn’t. Maisel was less concerned with the camera and more focused on her surroundings. She’d drift in and out of the frame, pause in a doorway, or find her own place to sit while Tuco did his thing. The two didn’t interact much, but there was a quiet understanding between them, the kind that comes from sharing space day after day. Photographing them at home made everything feel authentic.
