A fresh controversy has emerged in the Indian esports scene after GodLike Esports co-founder Amar publicly criticized the organizers of the upcoming Mythic Showdown LAN tournament. His comments have sparked widespread discussion about the financial challenges faced by professional esports teams competing in offline events.

He expressed doubts as to why qualified teams should still be asked to foot their own traveling bills considering the fast growth of the country’s gaming industry and many tournaments held.

GodLike Amar Questions Lack of Flight Support

Referring to the LAN competition that is scheduled soon, Amar expressed disappointment at the fact that the organizers were not offering any basic assistance to the teams regarding their travels.

As per Amar, GodLike Esports itself had booked its flights last year because of the promise made by the organizers that this would change in the future. However, apparently, this problem has persisted even this year.

Travel Costs Can Wipe Out Team Earnings

Amar brought out the cost implications incurred by the organization by analyzing the figures associated with the tournament.

The tournament provides a prize money of ₹5 lakh, with the winner walking away with ₹2.5 lakh. However, Amar pointed out that almost ₹1 lakh might be spent on flights alone.

Whereas the winners manage to recoup their costs through the prize money, other teams who fail to qualify for the final round might lose their money.

Despite his criticism, Amar confirmed that GodLike Esports has already booked its flights and will participate in the upcoming Mythic Showdown event.

However, he issued a clear warning that the organization will not attend future LAN tournaments that fail to provide flight tickets or travel support for qualified tea
