Yes. Being a freelancer does not prevent someone from obtaining a UK Standard Visitor Visa.

However, freelance applicants often need to provide additional evidence to demonstrate that their income is genuine and that they have ongoing ties to their home country.

Useful supporting documents can include bank statements showing regular income, invoices, contracts or letters from clients, evidence of tax returns, and any documentation confirming ongoing work commitments following the proposed visit.

The fact that freelance income varies from month to month is not unusual and, by itself, is not a reason for refusal. The key is ensuring that the evidence presented paints a clear picture of the applicant’s circumstances and shows that they intend to leave the UK at the end of their visit.

As with all visitor visa applications, UKVI will assess whether the applicant can afford the trip and whether they are a genuine visitor who intends to return home after a temporary stay.

If prepared correctly, freelancers can and do successfully obtain UK Visitor Visas every day.
