Lead rumor: Trick Williams’ future

If you were anything like me, you were shocked when Baron Corbin beat Trick Williams to win the United States championship at SummerSlam. It’s not that Corbin shouldn’t be holding a title like that so much as it didn’t feel like the right time for Trick to lose it.

Unless, of course, he is getting elevated.

Sure enough, word coming from WRKD Wrestling is that he’s “onto bigger and better things” after his title loss. He’s apparently been “mentioned as an early pick for a potential Money in the Bank win.”

Of course, that show isn’t for another two months, so we’ll see how things go in the meantime.

In related Trick Willy news, False Finish claims Lil Yachty is currently in talks with WWE for a new contract. He’s been doing some training of late as well.

Other rumors floating around

• Dave Meltzer said he believes the reason WWE didn’t announce attendance numbers for SummerSlam on either night is that they didn’t get the turnout they hoped for and AEW will beat it with All In.
• For what it’s worth, Ethan Page told The Battleground Podcast that he was the one who requested WWE remove the “ego” reference in his entrance theme because he doesn’t like fans playing sing-along with his music.
• Jody Threat’s split with TNA was “amicable” says PW Insider, after she requested and was granted her release by the company.
• Max Caster’s contract with AEW is coming up later this year, per Fightful Select. There’s no word on if the company wants to keep him around.
